There is  a lot of chatter at the moment regarding website content, comments and backlinks.

Comments on a blog are the quickest way to build targeted, relevant and free content. Everyone knows that. And most people are blogging to attract attention of one reason or another. And yet i find a few different attitudes regarding comments on blogs.

The strategist

This blogger encourages comments by making it easy for you to post. He may have a captua screen of some kind but it’s clear, easy to navigate and works the first time. He also rewards comments by allowing a link back to your own site complete with key words. He understands that this is good practice because you’ll be back to post again and he gets the opportunity to communicate with you once again.

The Greedy Shortsighted

This blogger also allows you to comment with key words but uses a nofollow code on his site thus keeping all his page rank for himself but accepting your free targeted content. He wonders why he doesn’t have regular visitors

The  - actually I don’t know how to describe him.

This blogger uses nofollow and won’t allow key words but still wants you to build his site with free targeted comment.
It seems to me that if I want to build any kind of relationship with my readers and want them to comment regularly then it’s only fair that I reward them with  as good a back link as I can. Any page rank bleed my site experiences will surely be more than compensated with the extra attention from the SE’s.

Is it possible to make money from an online business?

For anyone that watches late night television and infomercials it is not news that there are many business opportunities on the internet. There are advertisements in print media, television and a few months ago I heard a commercial on the radio. With all the hype about home based and internet based business opportunities I decided that I would look into it to see if I could supplement our income.

There are many sites that make huge claims about making money online. In my research I found that some of them are complete scams and others are complicated business ventures. I did come up with a few pitfalls and tools that I used in sorting out the opportunities. It is very easy to get caught up in spending money to obtain information. That is the first pitfall that I fell into. When looking into making money online do not pay for information about the opportunity.

We have all come across the sites that claim that you can make thousands of dollars a week spending a few minutes a day whenever you want to. Most of these sites call themselves data entry opportunities. They tell you that if you can type an email you can do the job and make thousands of dollars a week. The information that is not shared prior to buying into the company is that you need to spend a great deal of money posting the advertisements that you type up.

I paid to learn more about the data entry positions. In the hype portion I was told that all I needed to do was to fill out forms and post them on the internet. I was not told that I first had to pay to get the forms and then had to pay to post them. I also had to research which company had the greatest potential of helping me recoup my money as well as make a profit. It was a very complicated and misleading experience. The next pitfall that I fell into in trying to make money online was the completion of surveys.

This is the biggest rip off that there is on the internet. For one thing you can join companies to get mailed the surveys without going through a third party. The third party has you pay money then they simply give you the websites of the survey companies. I ended up spending money joining music and make up clubs as well as ordering magazines.

There was one survey that I took that I was paid $1.50 for taking. The third party company stated that you could make hundreds of dollars a week spending fifteen to twenty hours. This was not a sure bet in making money online for me. The person that was making money online in this case was the one that found the survey takers for the companies, who in turn bought from the companies.

Making money online is possible, but it is not a get rich quick scheme and the old saying “if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn’t” definitely applies.

It’s important to remember that this is a $37 purchase - although I see in a mail I just got that the publishers are going to increase the price on Monday……..

First of all - if $37 is all you have as a budget don’t spend it here.

This is not a system that you can follow and generate cash from immediately. But if Direct marketing is an interest of yours and you are looking to expand your knowledge on the subject then this is an entertaining read and listen. It’s full of anecdotes and stories and exposes quite a lot about the personality and character of Mr James.

The whole marketing approach of the 12 Month Millionaire is itself a study of marketing and worth exposing yourself to. That’s maybe worth the $37 on it’s own. In fact it really reminds me of the book published by Joe Karbo “The lazy Man’s Way To Riches” - the first direct mail book I ever bought. ( And still available at Amazon for $30)

I would say that Mr Karbo and Mr James may have had a lot in common from a marketing perspective.
I do think that you need to have a marketing machine in place already to take advantage of some of the stuff you’ll hear and read.

It seems to have hit a cord with marketers because by my last information about 4000 copies have already been sold.

Are you also being flooded with emails about the new miracle cure to internet marketing failure - 12 Month Millionaire. I’ve had half a dozen messages about it already today and I’m still on early morning coffee.

So - ok - I bought it. Well I’m also curious. If it’s a blow off then I’ve burned 37 bucks but what if it’s doable? Never mind the millions. Would an extra $100 000 a year make an impact in your life? It certainly would in mine.
Anyway - I can afford - and so can you - to lose the $37 but I can’t afford to walk past something that may be worth serious money.

The sales pitch is convincing and there are some good examples of follow up and backend selling that you should look at for your own education but I can’t tell you anymore than that right now.

Everyone wants to know the fastest and best ways to make money on the Internet. Well, this article is going to reveal the four most solid and effective methods that I have found to date. These are not get rich quick schemes. They are proven money-making tactics, and if you put your efforts into these avenues of money making you will meet with success.

1 Information marketing. This is my absolute favorite. Creating your own information product such as an ebook or ecourse will allow you to make large sums of money in the shortest amount of time possible. Once you have created your product you can sell it again and again for years to come. The best part is the profit margins are close to 100%, and you don’t have to worry about any inventory or shipping costs. Your autoresponder and credit card processing service will take care of everything for you. I suggest every serious Internet marketer have at least one information product being sold at all times.

2 Affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing allows you to start an Internet business without having any products or services of your own. Instead, you promote other company’s products and services. This is great to do while your own information product is being created. Being part of affiliate programs can supplement any product or service you are already selling, so if you are not affiliate marketing you are literally leaving money on the table.

It provides instant profits, especially if you choose to promote a popular product. Take your time when choosing companies to promote. Commission percentages range drastically. One company may offer a 5% commission per sale, while another company may offer 75%.

3 Google Adsense. Adsense is a program that places Google text ads on your site. You are paid each time the ads are clicked by your visitors. The more traffic your site gets, the more money you will make. I suggest that everybody use Adsense to boost profits. There are certain tactics you need to use when working with Adsense. 4 Joint ventures. Joint ventures are a fantastic way to make large sums of money in the shortest possible time. I find that joint ventures work best when dealing with information products. Of course, you can do joint ventures with any product you may offer. This tactic simply involves partnering with key sites that have much more traffic than your own. They will likely have a large opt-in mailing list. All you have to do is approach these top-ranking sites that relate to your topic and make a proposal. I find that splitting all profits equally works well. The more generous your offer, the more people will want to partner up with you.

Imagine the power of doing a joint venture with a site that has an opt-in mailing list of fifty thousand subscribers. All they have to do is send out a message to their list, including a recommendation of your product and a link to your site. If your site’s ad copy is good and the product you offer is high quality, you will make massive amounts of sales.

Any one of the four methods above has the potential to make you huge sums of money. However, they require that you put in an adequate amount of effort and possess the necessary knowledge.
